Back in the 1960s kids in 4th/5th grade didn't need to be taught that


We had electric train sets, and you had to know how to wire the track and accessories.

I do remember having the "How and Why Book of Electricity" (in addition to the "beginning science" book in the picture n the post below) at about that age, which covered a lot of basics. I probably still have a copy somewhere.

I remember making a telegraph of sorts for 5th grade science fair. It had lights and a buzzer at each end for signaling devices. The buzzer was home made using electromagnets made from wire wrapped around nails.
