Would snow getting blown into exhaust and/or intake pipes do it?

The snow melts and the water ends up on the floor. Now that it's no longer snowing, and everything that was in the pipes has melted, it's not doing it anymore?

That's my theory, but I admit I don't know if I'm right. I cancelled the emergency service call once it started working, but my heating contractor is still coming out to check out the cause since I don't want it to happen again. I just told them that they should take care of their customers who truly have no heat before getting to me.
