Some of you know that I was close to Scot and his staff. They were, and remain, good people.

From a purely personal standpoint, I was disappointed with the change, but in this day and time, it's all about winning, so I do understand the decision. I thought Scot handled the change with absolute class, and he actually sent me a note asking me "to support the new staff just like you have me."

Since then, I have had the opportunity to spend time with Pete on a couple of occasions and have come away very impressed each time. He has a vision for the program and a roadmap to get us there. He seems to have assembled a top notch staff and with the completion of the indoor facility, we have as good of facilities as anyone in the conference (his words).

The future is indeed bright. Pete seems to love being at VT and believes we can be a real player in softball. One of the returning players told me that he "was just what we need."

I am excited to see what the future holds. Opening day is just 2 weeks and 2 days away!!!
