We have a Samsung smart TV and it had the YouTube TV app so no Roku there.

On two older TVs (not smart, but had HDMI port). I got the Roku Stick (volume & On/Off button) and the Roku Express (no bells/whistles). I've never got the Stick to turn the TV on/off, but volume works (no mute FWIW). The Express works fine.
