Not a flyboy and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night


but yeah, if you're being propelled at less than 230 mph (the clocked wind speed) in the opposite direction of the wind you would be losing ground. Now, would a jet be able to maintain elevation at that low of a speed, I have no idea.
