I've been encouraging her to visit local companies for just that purpose but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to be on her radar. She also has no interest in going military and I can't say I'm disappointed.

Good ideas on the questions - I'd been thinking along the same lines.

FYI the fees for all the certifications, classes, etc. over four years (aside from tuition) are approaching $100K for rotorcraft. I'm thinking there's got a be a cheaper way to get there.
