Love, love the show ... but...

It's probably just a rush to close lots of stories within the story and get to the point of two major battles in 6 episodes, but the military planning by team Dany and Jon has been pitiful so far.

Much written already about the gaps in planning for the Night King. And think about this from last night's episode (besides the absurdity of marching off to fight another epic battle days or just a day after defeating the undead!): They are all in a room counting up their remaining forces and developing strategy. Then, the next day, as if it was never discussed before, Tormund advises Jon that he's heading back north with all his remaining men. Hugs, hugs, take my wolf.

I'm sorry: wouldn't that have been a critical fact to know with all the battle planning? (And would Tormund and his men have stayed if Brienne had taken one for the team?)
