1) In fantasy literature, dragons are pretty darn smart, sometimes smarter than humans. It can be surmised that Drogon knew Dany died because of the throne and melted it down for any number of reasons. Hate, anger, spite, sorrow, whatever.

2) Drogon guarded her and let the only person in that he'd let in. Jon; A Targaryen who he knew that Dany loved. (Scene earlier in season 8 where Drogon saw her with Jon after their joint dragon-ride) Drogon just wasted an entire armada and an entire army of prob 30-40k men. And an entire city. Who else did she need guarding her?

3) Yep; which I think is why he is king? The political struggle in the plot line evidently could only rightfully be corrected by naming a king who had no business being king, didn't want to be king and could not perpetuate a ruling aristocracy through blood. He will never be spied on or undermined, because he knows - everything. I don't like this, but just trying to explain.

4) My only answer is that Drogon continued nuking the city far longer than what we saw in Episode 5. It's quite possible there was nothing left but ashes and the dead.

5) Jon should have died by Drogon, IMO. However, given he stayed alive, his was the only fitting ending for him. His stubborn honor would have seen him dead anywhere, everywhere in Westeros, so why name him king? He'd be dead by some treachery soon enough. So, send him to the one place Westeros cares nothing for and possibly the only place he could find solace.

My suggestion is not to watch the series again, and instead to read the books. So much more character development, intriguing dialogue, etc. If you wondered why Tyrion has sucked the past couple of seasons since linking up with Dany, well, it's because nothing has been written for Tyrion by GRRM since Tyrion arrived at Meereen in the books.
