or a different translation at least, as I'm not fluent in German. It's certainly not the entire paragraph that is often associated with that quote.

I guess what I'm getting at is that so many of these famous "quotes" are (1) things that people have said is some form for hundreds of years, and then (2) they get attributed to someone famous that is generally either widely admired (Einstein, Twain, etc.) or despised (Nazis, etc.).
