Boys around the world eat, sleep, and breathe soccer. Girls not so much.
Our women's national team is light years ahead of the rest of the world because they play soccer in the US, right beside the boys, by age 6. Girls don't do that in most other countries. The women's World Cup is pretty much ours for the taking for the next several Cups.
Our men, on the other hand, don't seem to be making much progress in catching up to the rest of the world. Which is disappointing. Because even though our very best athletes are going the football and basketball route, we still have a LOT of kids learning and playing organized/team soccer from a very young age and we really should be better than we are. I mean, population wise.... sheer numbers and resources.... suggest we should easily be one of the top five or six programs in the world.
