Mainly because soccer is an endurance sport, not an explosive power sport


Being physically huge is only an advantage in the latter. So, yeah, US soccer isn't necessarily better with Lebron James or Von Miller playing.

But the point is still there. When someone like Marcus Mariota, Antonio Brown, or Russell Wilson is growing up, they aren't dreaming about playing soccer. If they were, the USMNT would be a lot scarier.
