I agree the courses have changed which has helped to keep

the scores relatively constant. Also, the game has not been reduced to driving and putting, so golfers are still forced to work on their iron game too. However, if golfers could consistently hit tee shots 500+ yards, then you might see more golfers try to cut corners instead of following the fairway.
