In all my years being on the river in clear water, I have never seen

this happen. I know there is a distinct threat of it, though, so a good reminder. This is most likely because for the water to run clear, it has to have not rained anywhere south of the NRV including NC for at LEAST a week, but usually two or more. In those low-water conditions, they wont open the dam unless it is a scheduled maintenance thing. I've seen those announced beforehand, but it is rare.. like multiple decades rare.
