Are you saying the file name has an IE "e" beside it?


If so, then yes - I think that's because your computer doesn't have Excel, so it's not sure which program to use to view those files. The file hasn't actually been changed/corrupted, so if you email it to someone else who DOES have Excel on their computer, they should be able to open and view the file.

Try the link below to see if downloading the XLS file viewer solves your problem. It won't let you alter the spreadsheet, but at least you'll be able to open it.
