Lost my dad in 1994 and my mom in 1996 while both were still in their 50s.

I never had an issue with each passing year or the milestone birthdays (30 or 40) - but now that I turned 50 this year, my mortality is staring me in the face. I definitely miss both my parents still after a quarter century and it makes me sad that my kids never met them. However, I find myself remembering little things as my kids get older that remind me of them and make me feel like they are still with me in some ways.
