We were looking at a job along a road, driving on the shoulder with


flashers going. We thought it was a good idea since we were going so slow, looking at VDOT job.

We got pulled by a state trooper. Dad told the trooper to give him the ticket, as the driver was just following his orders. He said he'd "do us favor" and let it slide. That's how I learned of the law.

This was long before all the flasher regulations of today for roadside workers vehicles.
