Well...that's making a pretty broad assumption he would be doing so.


Only situation where I'd see that being a possibility would be if the units weren't individually metered and electricity was part of the rent, but even then there would need to be strict limitations, perhaps just setting up home/away. But if the landlord wanted to replace an old thermostat with a smart one as an upgrade to his property and give control to the renter, I don't see what the concern is there.
