Even after the French and British changed their tactics later in war, the


US just repeated the same mistakes. Pershing felt the US rifleman was far superior to the European soldiers, and could prevail in a frontal assault when the French and British would falter in the same circumstances. It wasn't until the Meuse-Argonne was well underway before the US incorporated more "fire and maneuver" tactics instead of the pure frontal assault.
