The Vega featured an aluminum block, but they didn't install steel sleeves in the cylinder, thus it experienced cylinder wear and burned oil. It was also the least powerful engine in it's class.

I believe the Citation was Chevrolet's first FWD car, and it sucked too! Just a poor design that was probably rushed to market too soon in an attempt to capture the American FWD market.

Just like GM's first passenger car diesel engine (based on a gasoline engine), great idea but horrible execution (again).
