They just wanted to know you have the capacity to learn.

My counterpart at Mitsu Metals had a Japanese equivalent of a Language/History degree. Mitsu hired and trained him to to be an Environmental Engineer (OTJT). Mitsu even sent him to me in AZ for 6 months for environmental training in re to mining.

Toshi is a super nice fella, we're still in contact, he told me that very few Japanese graduates are working in the field they graduated in.
