Semantics are everything so I would like to hear his reasoning. Sure, the


sun might dictate 99% of the earth's temperature. I mean, without it we would be damned near absolute zero no matter how much fossil fuel we burned! But that's like saying the temperature of your bedroom is 99% responsible for if you are too cool or too warm when you sleep. Yet a light blanket might be the difference between being uncomfortably cool and uncomfortably warm.

Why is it controversial to admit that burning fossil fuels increases the average temperature of the earth, any more so than saying that putting on a blanket makes you warmer?
