Hate to say it without the NTSB findings, but it doesn't look good. Having


been in some dicey weather like that in my career, it's easier to take off than land. Marginal weather like that is bad ju-ju when flying Visual Flight Rules. If he had planned and filed an Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flight plan and with the avionics on an S-76B, no problem. Main problem is time and wanting to get those passengers to the basketball game. When airfields are declaring IFR and the LAPD is grounded, red flags and sirens should have been sounding off.
Can't get in a rush when the margins are so small...
