ACC Seeds for VT Wrestlers definitely took a hit last night ...
125: Definite Hit. Prata looking like the 4 seed and getting Mueller in Semifinals. Takes away the potential for the 2nd place finish for sure.
133: Definite Hit. Looking like 4 seed with Phillippi in semifinals. Same as above.
141: Unclear. Wilson, Moore, and Sherman will all have the same record provided Moore beats Pitt's Matthews this week. Probably 3 seed (he might be better off as a seed opposite of Wilson as it now looks like he has a better chance against him than Sherman).
149: Solidified. Andonian almost the sure 2 seed.
157: No real impact. Winner of BC - Rahamni match will be the 3 seed most likely.
165: No real impact direct from last night; although if DMF loses to Pitt's Wentzel this week, he will be the 4 seed and will have Monday in semifinals.
174: No impact. Result this week might change seed.
184: Solidified. No. 1 seed for Bolen most likely, even if loss vs Bonaccorsi this week?
197: No real impact. Win vs Stout this week could get 3 seed for Smeltzer?
285: Definite impact. Borst looking like 4 seed and will get Pitt's Thomas in semifinals. This limits opportunity to finish 2nd in ACCT but 3rd place still in play.
Some avenues for VT wrestlers to get into the finals was definitely closed off last night. If rest of ACC duals go as expected and current projected seeds hold, VT is 25+ points behind NCS in the ACCT if seeds held serve. VT would have to greatly exceed their seed to get in the ballpark with NCS.
ACCT points (cloudy picture for VT) based on my projected seeds is as follows:
NCS - 81 points
UNC - 60 points
Pitt - 54.5 points
VT - 53.5 points
UVa - 47.5 points
Duke - 3.5 points
