You need to have the right temperament to be a salesperson

Sales skills can be learned but not everyone will be successful at it - there's a Pareto distribution in the sales force (20 percent of the people drive 80 percent of the revenue).

Some things that will stand in your way:

-Lack of the drive to make money, develop your own brand, or be in charge of the sales process

-Lack of an interactive nature - not being able to establish genuine rapport

-Lack of drive and competitiveness

-Having the need for lots of structure - you have to be open to dynamic situations

-Being contemplative rather than decisive.
