My Dad finished up Metalsmith school at Wentworth Institute of

Technology in Boston. He was transferred to Norfolk for further assignment to a ship in North African waters (1943).

When he got to Norfolk he was suffering an asthma attack so bad he was hospitalized for a few days. The Navy doc wondered how he was taken into the Navy.

His orders for further transfer to North African waters were cancelled, and he spent the rest of his enlistment at Norfolk Navy Shipyard.
