For those comparing number of flu deaths to COVID-19 deaths

Worth reading how CDC calculates flu deaths, at least until your eyes glaze over.

Keep in mind that the CDC is estimating “flu-associated” deaths, That’s a pretty expansive definition, which helps explain the large number.

My personal bias is that the CDC likes to report the large number to encourage people to get the vaccine. Probably unfair on my part, though.
