Yep, it goes dormant in late fall and doesn't do well with overseeing rye.


That was never a problem for me. It does also spread into flower beds, etc but a quick edging once a year and a bit of herbicide for wayward bits works fine. Plugs work fine and it will spread over a few years and "take over" the lawn running out weeds, etc. I would get a wee bit of Dallasgrass which could easily be dug by hand. Common Bermuda is a problem .....getting that started is not good. I actually mowed my front yard with a reel mower like a golf course and the bermuda never got established. Last several years I used an old snapper rider and it worked fine.
