Ugh dealing with government agencies is laborious.

Trying to get a learner's permit for my daughter. I thought I just needed a birth certificate and proof of identity for her (no problem, she has a passport). But they need a social security card too. And I can't find it.

But the social security offices are closed. You can only request a replacement card online if you are over 18. I called to see what I needed to do to get one, and they want a school transcript (?!), which isn't mentioned anywhere online re. documentation you might need. So that leads to calling the school, which is closed for the summer.

At this rate, she'll be 18 before I get anywhere.
