When you spread out it's best to be near major airports.

I'd submit that the ACC has so far done a good job of keeping within eastern time zone, and the ACC has done reasonably well with access to major airports. (Boston, Atlanta, Miami) have major airports. (Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Raleigh-Durham, Greensboro, Roanoke, Charlottesville, Greenville, Louisville, South Bend, and Tallahassee) are good regional airports. (Pittsburgh & RDU) at one time were hubs. Accessibility to air travel seems to be an important factor that the ACC uses for analysis.

The author is a Maryland person. I wouldn't want to have to try to get to all the places that Maryland has to get to in the Midwest in the winter either with the Wrestling team. Notre Dame's hockey team didn't like winter hiking all over New England either.

It's the G5 conferences that are really spread out that have a real issue. C-USA, the Sunbelt, and the American really need to look at organizing more regionally for the health of their student athletes.
