Hokie mentions in 2022 stories
Wrestling Nomad from Flo and Willie Saylor name dropped us a couple of times in their stories on who coaches should have called first yesterday. Yesterday was the first day that coaches could contact wrestlers from the class of 2022.
Here's what Flo had to say:
▪ Our name is floated with #1 Nic Bouzakis (Fla). Nomad says Penn State should've called him first but here's where we get mentioned: "Virginia Tech assistant Jared Frayer also has an extensive history with his father Tory, so I believe the Hokies will be in the mix early on."
▪ Here's who Nomad thought we should've called first yesterday. No surprise:
"Virginia Tech: #11 Nick Feldman, PA
Legacy works in one of two ways. You can either desire to follow in the footsteps of your family, or try to carve out your own path. Both are great options, but in the case of Nick Feldman, I'm betting on the former. His father Josh was seventh at heavyweight in 1994, just the second All-American in Hokie history. Not that this is something you should put too much stock in, but I've seen Feldman wear VT gear more than any other college's. It will of course be up to Coach Robie and his staff to prove Blacksburg is a good fit for Feldman, but they've got a massive head start on a premier upper weight."
▪ Nomad said that UNC should've called #8 Caleb Henson (Ga) first yesterday. He briefly mentions that Frayer has ties to him (doesn't elaborate further).
▪ Here's what Willie had to say:
"Virginia Tech: Nick Feldman and The New Kent Brigade
Nick Feldman is one of my favorite prospects in the Sophomore class. He had a breakout year and his dad was an All American at Tech. What's difficult here is projecting Feldman's weight. If he stays a 197 (he currently walks around at 205) he's a no-brainer target. But if he becomes a HWT there's really too much overlap with Catka, who signed as the #1 HWT to Tech this year.
Next is staying in-state. New Kent has four Top 150 recruits in this class and I think Tech should talk to all them. It's the Virginia Tech version of Pitt-Forrest Hills."
