True or not, my Cousin is a Cajan from LA. He used to talk->


about stories that the old time Cajuns would throw "good old boys" in the swamp for gators as gator bait. These were people who "crossed them" (whatever that means).

Throwing a baby of ANY color (or anybody else) in a swamp for the gators is horrific!!! It is inexcusable, but hardly the basis for a racist chant. If used for football, back when it started, there were probably no African American players on their opponent anyway; considering the first Florida AA football player was in or around 1968..

Seems MORE likely to me that they were referring to the old Cajun "tradition", and that was "good old boys" (still horrible)
