We messed up our nursing homes a long time ago. They were
a ticking time bomb just waiting for a pandemic. There isn’t a lot they could have done differently given the cards they were holding when the pandemic started.
With the lack of training, PPE, testing, staffing and adequate space to quarantine infected residents, they were doomed.
But largely, their problem was due to non-professional staff working multiple jobs at multiple nursing facilities and carrying the infection with them from facility to facility. They didn’t tell their employers where else they worked and even if they did, states were not disclosing which facilities had infection. [Post edited by Femoyer Hokie at 06/29/2020 10:14AM]
