Gotta be Miday. If it were fiction you would say it couldn't happen, and


not the way it did. Japs tied up in knots, not able to decide on ordnance? Americans find the Japs and sink three carriers in 15 minutes, (or whatever it was). All that, plus the enormity of the consequences. People compare it to Stalingrad but I think that's wrong. Keep in mind the Germans were also held up at Moscow and Leningrad. Russia was a meat grinder that chewed up the German army. Stalingrad was just the high water mark for the Germans.

Midway was a completely different thing. Japan was at full strength and America was on the defensive. Midway was a shocking upset and a ricochet that changed the direction of the war. Stalingrad was the result of Germany being worn out.

..And those torpedo bomber crews..
