We had one in our house in Connecticut. I ran it early morning in the

summer. IE, if I woke up and it was 65 outside, well, that's lower than the 75 I set the AC at, so open windows, turn on the attic fan and suck cooler air into the house AND ALSO suck that air up into the attic and force out the hot air that's built up up there.

It was on a timer, so I could set it for an hour or 2, or less, then close all the windows and doors. The house was well insulated, so the cool retained for awhile before the AC had to do any work again.

And if I wanted to, I could even do it without the windows open. Just open the basement door and get some effect from sucking up the cooler air from down there.
