I read through the fourth book and lost interest for a while...


I went back and picked up the prequels written by his son that really tied a lot of what you saw in the original book that went without explanation (like the origin of the Fremen and Saudakar, the Butlerain Jihad, prohibition on computers) that I really enjoyed, although I haven't gotten to the last of the three.

If you enjoy the genre, definitely keep reading. Will not likely help you with the upcoming movie reading beyond the first though.
