Thinking about buying a used truck

I want to be able to take it camping and drive the roads my car doesn't like, plus I need to be able to haul stuff every now and then and maybe do some towing as well. So I'm looking for at least a six foot bed, a cab that can seat four comfortably, and most importantly something that's tough and reliable (specifically, that likely won't need the engine or transmission replaced). I'm thinking between 100K and 200K miles and would like to keep it to $10K or maybe a bit more. What's worked for you, and what should I stay away from?
