The main thing you need to consider is your talking about a car that is

21 years old. If it has been driven a reasonable amount it doesn't matter what brand of car with that many years on it. Things are gonna break be prepared for it. I made that mistake once and bought a 13-year old Subaru to drive for 2 years. It was an awful 2 years and ended up selling the thing for junk it had 120,000 on it when I bought it.

If you are looking for a car you will drive a fair bit, stay away from buying any car more than 10 years old. I usually buy new cars, but if you can get a reasonably priced Toyota under 10 years old I like your chances. Since I am retiring in a few more years and will probably buy either an FJ Crusier for a fun second car or later model GMC Yukon if I decide to tow a camper.
