"Brianna Peck, SS/P, PA Strikers (Virginia Tech)

Brianna has had an amazing career already--she was the 2019 PA Gatorade High School Softball Player of the Year, has been a three-time PA All-State High School selection and was a 1st Team Extra Inning Softball All-American (Multi-Purpose) selection last year. She trained daily during the pandemic to keep her bat velo at 80-plus mph and registered another fabulous summer season, leading the team with high batting average of .454 and an OB of .496. Explains Coach Camille Hayes: “The quality of her hits were equally impressive as she posted 16 home runs, three triples and 12 doubles for a total of 31 extra base hits and 55 RBIs in just 47 games played.” Brianna is a super smooth and athletic 5-foot-10 shortstop with great range and a combine-clocked 71-mph overhand throw."

Among the highlights of that article is that she visited VT when she was 13 and had some great memories that was confirmed when she visited again in December:

“I loved the campus the first time I was there years ago,” she remembers, “but going back the second time was truly special.”

The junior said she had a better understanding of what she wanted from her college experience and could feel she was having the confirming experience she was hoping for.

“As soon as I met Coach Pete, I felt like I could talk to him about anything” said Peck as she tells the story of her initial meeting with the Virginia Tech Coaching staff.

“Then Coach Doug caught me while I pitched and he made it fun. He was making jokes and goofing around and he made me feel so comfortable. I am usually really nervous when I meet new people, but I didn’t feel that way at all with either Coach Pete or Coach Doug.”
