Interesting story about my CC application in Virginia.

I had what can only be described as an antique Virginia Hunters Safety card from 1983 that had lived in my father's gun cabinet for decades. It's hard to read my name but it's still on there. I expected that to be a problem when I applied. Nope. One glance and the clerk just made a copy for the application.

What actually surprised me, though, was that I didn't have to show any ID. I had already signed the application and the check for the fee was already made out as well. But at no point was I required to identify myself as the person submitting the application, and there was no notarization required on the form. I found that...odd.
