Everyone does need to keep in mind UPS, FedEx, and USPS are operating WAY
WAY WAY WAY above capacity, and have been since March.
In a typical year, the summer is relatively slow and they are totally slammed from Thanksgiving to Christmas (and mandate OT and hire a bunch of temps to manage). Summer of 2020 saw volumes 30% higher than normal holiday volumes. Now, we're into actual holiday volumes, with a heap of 2020 on top of that.
They just don't have the people, trucks, airplanes, or warehouse space to handle the mountains of packages being thrown at them. And those are problems that take hundreds of millions of dollars and months/years of leadtime to solve...by which time the pandemic will probably be over.
