If not leaking, purely an aesthetic decision


if the old flange is discolored, you could replace it. It is an incredibly simple thing to do, just make sure you have plumbers putty.

Advice from someone who has done a few of those...

1. Have a helper, if for no other reason that pushing down on the sink while you are pushing the new disposal up if it is a top mounted sink.
2. If you have a dishwasher that drains into the disposal...don't forget the knockout plug on the dishwater connector .... not that I have done that or anything....
