Question for those who have done this procedure...

...how do you select a replacement garbage disposal? What needs to be measured to buy one that is a direct "bolt in?" If that's not an option, what "pipe extender" connectors are preferred?

Have a garbage disposal that does not work. Not sure how much use I would get out of one, since I never used this one, but hate having inoperative equipment!
