Personally, I'm a fan of Waste King. They aren't sold at Lowe's or Home Depot, but they seem to be more powerful, quieter, and cheaper than what you can get at the box stores. Could probably double as a wood chipper in a pinch.

But I also don't use it THAT much. I used to throw everything in the disposal. But I've seen reports on the horrors of sending grease down the drain, so I try to put most stuff in the trash instead.
