Except if you buy a HP color inkjet

Your cartridges will be obsolete long before the printer dies. HP seems to put a different cartridge package for every printer, and change them every year. Got so frustrated than I just bought a laser printer!

Here's a suggestion for HP: narrow your ink cartridges to no more than ~4 different sets for your entire printer line, and ensure every new printer uses one of those existing cartridge sets. When you walk into a store and find 80 different HP ink cartridges on the shelf, you know they aren't serious about keeping your business long term.
