Hokies picked 2nd in the ACC by the coaches
From Hokiesorts:
"Virginia Tech is ranked second in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll, behind only Florida State, and was the only other team to receive first-place votes. On Tuesday, the Hokies were ranked No. 15 and No. 16 in the country by the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, respectively. The No. 15 preseason ranking is the highest for the program since 2008."
Below is the actual voting - with only 5 total points separating FSU and VT from the top spot. That has to be one of the closest votes in conference history and speaks volumes about what the other ACC coaches think of VT. FSU has had a much more established national reputation, but the coaches in the league would appear to feel the gap has closed significantly.:
