You just stirred some memories actually, but I think you have some issues
with specific time and location.
Growing up, my father would occasionally talk about the best roller coaster he had been on - The Comet in Crystal Beach, which was an amusement park in Ontario, Canada.
My sister liked roller coasters. I hated 'em. Still do. Dad mentioned that the Comet, original design, had one hill where you were dropping down and just below the tracks was the lake and a bunch of boulders.
Crystal Beach didn't close in the 60's though. I remember going there, and given my birthdate, our trip had to have been in the mid 70's to early 80's. I just checked wiki, and it says that Crystal Beach closed in 1989.
As for where the Comet moved to - it moved to Quennsbury NY, which is not/no longer near me. It wasn't far when I was living in CT, I guess, but the park I was referring to in my initial response to you is now known as "Six Flags Darien Lake" and is located about 1/2 way between Buffalo and Rochester.
My dad and sis rode the Comet on that trip to Crystal Beach, but dad was a bit disappointed that either the coaster had been moved, or some lake had been filled in. You were no longer plummeting towards the rocks in the lake. Just a normal, but big, drop.
Thanks for a little trip down memory lane.
