Monthly power bill last year comes in at $15 *less* per month

How is that logical? Instead of eight to 10 hours a day when no one is there, we were home pretty much 24/7 for nine months. How does our power bill go down during such a time period? Only thing I can think of is the mild summer, but the reduction was wider than just that.
