Agree with hokie tony
those of you newer to wrestling or not up on freestyle (I'm not very freestyle knowledgeable)..but Hokie nation please don't take this the wrong way...I love, love Mekhi, he is possibly the most important hokie wrestler of all-time....however, he is nowhere near olympic ready, not even a realistic discussion yet. Hell, we have a guy in the room at 65kg that is waaaay more ready. (James G.) 74 kg has Burroughs, Dake, Nolf, and lesser known guys (Massa, Karchla) that are not as good at folk than Mekhi but definite a threat to him in free. As HT said, this cycle, not realsitic at all. NOT discounting the man in the future, he is awesome and has skills and drive. Those of you thinking 3-4 national championships are also likely. Yes, he can do it but if you all recall, IMAR won as a freshman and was "unbeatable." Joseph beat him and won as a freshman, soph, then Mekhi beat him. Winning a natty is amazing, multiple titles makes you generational. Only the Spencer Lee's of the world win 3-4. Our own coach (Brewer) was a 4 time AA and a 1 time champ. That is absolutely amazing and probably a more realistic expectation. Mekhi is amazing but even a second championship would be HUGE. Praying he recovers and proves me wrong in every way. I believe in him, just know how unreal of a run he has already had.
