We have belonged to a neighborhood pool since 2000. It's 2 blocks from the house. My kids grew up there and did Summer swim team. My wife also coaches. I swim laps there in the Summer. It's the best thing about living in my neighborhood. Over the years, I have spent a lot of time there.

Last Summer, the pool didn't open until nearly July due to covid. I bought a 6x10x2.5 foot Intex above ground pool, leveled a spot in the yard, and assembled the pool. It has a small pump that I ran 24x7. At first we used a tethered belt to swim in the pool and get my kids in shape for when swim practice would resume. I also used it probably more than anyone. Once the pool warmed up, we really enjoyed just lounging in it and cooling off during the day. I would actually go to my neighborhood pool, swim, come back, and float in my pool and rehydrate. Why would I want to stay at the neighborhood pool, sitting on the deck in a mask and having to deal with people. No matter what happens at the pool this Summer, I'm putting up the backyard pool, and when we retire and move in a few years, I absolutely will have a pool.
