...used lies (call them "false truths", "incorrect information", or whatever other wordsmithed synonym for "lie" that you want) to manipulate the public, thinking it would prevent panic and protect the supply of PPE for medical personnel. Instead, it made a large portion of the population tune out the official "guidance" once it flipped 180 degrees.

Using misinformation is never helpful, even if you think you're doing it "for a good reason." There are always consequences to such an action.
